As you may know, October is Pastor Appreciation Month. A few people have made suggestions on things we can do to express our gratitude to PG. Prayer bookmarks will be available on Sunday, October 5th for anyone who would like one. They include a guide for praying for your pastor.
A basket will be put together and presented to PG at the October 12 church picnic at Rocky Vine. All are welcome to bring items to include. Please feel free to bring a card, note of encouragement, gift card, handmade item, etc to church this Sunday or next Sunday.
This is not a top-secret operation, so don't worry about spilling the beans! As a church family, we just want to let Pastor George and his family know how much we appreciate them. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jean Webb.

Constitution and Bylaws Review with Q & A Time
Immediately following church on Sunday, September 28
Reminder: The Leadership Team will hold two meetings with the congregation this week to review the proposed constitution and bylaws. Please try to attend one of the meetings, as feedback is appreciated!
Attention teens and parents of teens - We have decided to postpone the parent/teen meeting that was proposed for this upcoming Sunday, September 28th. We appologize for the short notice and any confusion. When proposing the date for our next youth/teen meeting we overlooked the fact that it is the same day as the church meeting to discuss our constitution and by-laws. We want to be sure that all families have a fair opportunity to attend both, so we are going to reschedule our next teen meeting. In addition, since out last teen/parent meeting on September 14th, the leadership team has created a sub committee (New Life Youth Task Force) to help guide and support New Life's youth ministry program. The sub committee has plans to meet this upcoming week to iron out a few items and further explore some potential opportunities before we meet again as a group. We hope to have more details and another meeting date to follow soon. If you have any questions please contact Jennifer Kazmaier.

Watch for signs with directions on Sunday!
Come to worship on Sunday dressed for the picnic and head over after worship. As of now it looks like we will have a sunny 81 degree day to get better acquainted, have some fun and food together, listen to a Blue Grass Band and/or simply relax!
Please bring a potluck dish to share as well as a lawn chair, as picnic tables are at a minimum. Washers, wiffleball, tug-O-war and other games are planned. For younger kids there will be 2 “bounce-house” inflatables

“The Word of Life: L.E.D. Living”
(to listen to this past Sunday’s message, click here (www.newlifechurchmo.org/sermons).
Back in May, on Good Morning America, they ran a story about Joe Cornell of Fresno, California. While out watering the plants of his residence, the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, Cornell heard some commotion in the street—a car honking at a Brink's truck. When he went to investigate he found a "Santa Claus bag" left behind from the truck. It was filled with $125,000 in cash.
Joe Cornell is in a drug and rehabilitation program and has no cash to his name, but he did the right thing by taking the money to his supervisor at the shelter. But it wasn't an easy decision. He said, "I thought about it, it was a good-devil-bad-devil thing on your shoulder, but taking the money wouldn't compare to what my grandkids would think of me if I did something like that. This shelter is trying to change my life. I tried to do the right thing."
For his honesty Brinks is giving Joe $5,000 and the Rehabilitation Center $5,000. What would you have done? $125,000 can do a lot of things for a family, but Joe chose go for integrity and for his legacy rather than a quick payoff.
Joe wanted to Live in the Light for the sake of others. Are you reflecting Jesus’ light to others?
Based on John 1:1-5:
In him [Jesus] was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.(v.4-5)
A Prayer a Pray:
Heavenly Father, You came to this earth in human form to be the Light of the World. Lord, I want Your Light to shine in my life, to illumine even the dark areas of my life, to help me see clearly when making decisions, and even to allow others to see You and Your ways shining in me. Strengthen me, God, that through my life others might come to know you more clearly. In Jesus’ Name, I pray.
Amen.
Prayer Requests:
Celeste Schriefer – pneumonia, recovering at home.
Ruth Dreyer – recovering from hip replacement surgery, at home.
Picnic Time
We have done a lot of planning, preparing and working together the past three months... it’s time to slow down and get better acquainted. Two picnic opportunities are being planned, please mark your calendars and be a part of these times of connection and encouragement:
New Life Church Constitution & By-Laws

Missions Team Being Built
The Leadership Team is looking for 5-7 interested persons who would be available to discern through prayer, research and study, how we are being called to make a difference in our community and beyond. If you are interested, please contact Pastor George or someone on the leadership team.

INFUSION of New Life – weekly encouragement from Pastor George & News to Note
September is here! This is the month that we have been aiming at to intentionally start reaching out to people whom we care enough to invite to worship.
In preparation, many have stepped forward to serve in welcoming and instructing ways: leading worship, running AV systems, teaching Sunday School, ushering, greeting, hospitality, cleaning, coordinating signage & publicity, landscaping, clerical help, LIFE groups, etc. We are stronger because of you! You have helped create a culture of extravagant welcome that those you invite during our September launch will surely experience and of which they will be in awe.
Please continue to pray for:
We are, indeed, joining in The Lord’s work in bringing His new life to individuals and communities.
May God help us all as we continue the building Jesus started, for as He said to Peter, “on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).

This week’s Blessings Re-Cap
Blessings just keep finding New Life Church… last week, phone and internet lines were installed (we'll share the phone number when the voicemail system is up and running), and someone gifted us a copy machine! A one-day VBS is being planned for Wednesday, August 6, and people are stepping up left and right to volunteer their time and talents. Thank you!
To-date, over $3,000 Giving Tree donations have been offered (over and above the regular giving), and on Sunday, July 13, we had 106 in worship!
With an average attendance of nearly 100, even during the summer vacation months, there is a definite need for two services instead of just one. We felt it was very important to keep a fellowship time between the services so that people attending each service still have the opportunity to see the people at the other service. We are a growing family, and our fellowship time is important! After much consideration, worship times of 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. were chosen. We will definitely utilize two services for the big launch on September 7th, and we may start them on August 24 so everyone has time to get comfortable with the different times before inviting all of their friends to the big launch on September 7! Don't worry, we'll keep you informed of the definite date for the service time change and make sure you have plenty of time to plan accordingly!
A Quick Note on Communications from New Life Church
All e-mails are also published to the "news" section of the New Life website at www.newlifechurchmo.org. They are automatically published from the website to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/newlifechurchmissouri). Sometimes seeing information on Facebook before receiving an e-mail directly sent to you seems a bit impersonal, so I wanted to make sure everyone knew the steps taken in sending out info. Thanks!

Do You Want to Share New Life with Others?
We need to start planning for Sunday School at New Life Church and we would like you to consider serving. We will need volunteers (men, women, young and matured adults) for Nursery, Sunday School and working with the Youth. It's an exciting time at New Life and we hope you will join us. Please pray about this commitment and let us know if you are interested. Be sure to let us know if you could teach every Sunday or if you prefer to" Team Teach" (every other) and what age group you would prefer. |
You may contact Kelly Dohm @ DohmsKGM@juno.com or 314-448-9231, if interested or any questions. The goal is to " kick off" Sunday School on Sept 7th and it will run through the end of May.
At this point, we will group the Sunday School Classes as follows. However, classes may be combined or separated once we get a better idea of who will be attending.

Pray for New Life Church as it gets established and grows...especially as we move to 2 services. Pray that God will bring forth His leaders and that we will all grow and mature in our faith so we can be better used by Him.
Lots of praise and thankfulness for all The Lord
