Constitution and Bylaws Review with Q & A Time
Immediately following church on Sunday, September 28 Reminder: The Leadership Team will hold two meetings with the congregation this week to review the proposed constitution and bylaws. Please try to attend one of the meetings, as feedback is appreciated!
Attention teens and parents of teens - We have decided to postpone the parent/teen meeting that was proposed for this upcoming Sunday, September 28th. We appologize for the short notice and any confusion. When proposing the date for our next youth/teen meeting we overlooked the fact that it is the same day as the church meeting to discuss our constitution and by-laws. We want to be sure that all families have a fair opportunity to attend both, so we are going to reschedule our next teen meeting. In addition, since out last teen/parent meeting on September 14th, the leadership team has created a sub committee (New Life Youth Task Force) to help guide and support New Life's youth ministry program. The sub committee has plans to meet this upcoming week to iron out a few items and further explore some potential opportunities before we meet again as a group. We hope to have more details and another meeting date to follow soon. If you have any questions please contact Jennifer Kazmaier.

We will be having a New Life Picnic @ the Dutzow Pavilion (take Hwy 47 North of Mercy Hospital, 3 miles past the bridge, then take a right on Hwy 94 at the Dutzow light. At the Hwy 94 & Hwy TT junction, stay straight ahead on Hwy TT to the Dutzow ball fields on your left (ball fields are approximately 1.4 miles from 47/94 intersection). Watch for signs with directions on Sunday!
Come to worship on Sunday dressed for the picnic and head over after worship. As of now it looks like we will have a sunny 81 degree day to get better acquainted, have some fun and food together, listen to a Blue Grass Band and/or simply relax! Please bring a potluck dish to share as well as a lawn chair, as picnic tables are at a minimum. Washers, wiffleball, tug-O-war and other games are planned. For younger kids there will be 2 “bounce-house” inflatables “The Word of Life: L.E.D. Living”
(to listen to this past Sunday’s message, click here (www.newlifechurchmo.org/sermons). Back in May, on Good Morning America, they ran a story about Joe Cornell of Fresno, California. While out watering the plants of his residence, the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, Cornell heard some commotion in the street—a car honking at a Brink's truck. When he went to investigate he found a "Santa Claus bag" left behind from the truck. It was filled with $125,000 in cash. Joe Cornell is in a drug and rehabilitation program and has no cash to his name, but he did the right thing by taking the money to his supervisor at the shelter. But it wasn't an easy decision. He said, "I thought about it, it was a good-devil-bad-devil thing on your shoulder, but taking the money wouldn't compare to what my grandkids would think of me if I did something like that. This shelter is trying to change my life. I tried to do the right thing." For his honesty Brinks is giving Joe $5,000 and the Rehabilitation Center $5,000. What would you have done? $125,000 can do a lot of things for a family, but Joe chose go for integrity and for his legacy rather than a quick payoff. Joe wanted to Live in the Light for the sake of others. Are you reflecting Jesus’ light to others? Based on John 1:1-5: In him [Jesus] was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.(v.4-5) A Prayer a Pray: Heavenly Father, You came to this earth in human form to be the Light of the World. Lord, I want Your Light to shine in my life, to illumine even the dark areas of my life, to help me see clearly when making decisions, and even to allow others to see You and Your ways shining in me. Strengthen me, God, that through my life others might come to know you more clearly. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen. Prayer Requests: Celeste Schriefer – pneumonia, recovering at home. Ruth Dreyer – recovering from hip replacement surgery, at home. INFUSION of New Life – weekly encouragement from Pastor George & News to Note September is here! This is the month that we have been aiming at to intentionally start reaching out to people whom we care enough to invite to worship. In preparation, many have stepped forward to serve in welcoming and instructing ways: leading worship, running AV systems, teaching Sunday School, ushering, greeting, hospitality, cleaning, coordinating signage & publicity, landscaping, clerical help, LIFE groups, etc. We are stronger because of you! You have helped create a culture of extravagant welcome that those you invite during our September launch will surely experience and of which they will be in awe. Please continue to pray for:
We are, indeed, joining in The Lord’s work in bringing His new life to individuals and communities. May God help us all as we continue the building Jesus started, for as He said to Peter, “on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).
