Parade of Lights Update... Giving Opportunities

11/10/2014

Several people met after church this past Sunday to brainstorm and come up with a design idea for the New Life Christmas parade float. We are excited to announce that our theme will be "We Believe" (and no, not in Santa :)). We wanted our focus to not only represent who we are as a church, but to send an uplifting message to parade spectators with the true meaning of Christmas. Our plan is to attach the words "We Believe" on the sides of our float while a few members of our worship team sing the News Boys hit song "We Believe" as well. Also on the float we are going to incorporate a large lit star over a manger scene with live characters (Mary, Joseph, Shepherds, Wise Men and Angels). We will pass out New Life magnets and postcards (with Christmas service information).

Our first float work day will be this upcoming Saturday, November 15th at 3:00 pm (We will be meeting at the home of the Arnold's...if you are interested in helping please contactJennifer Kazmaier or Amanda Griesheimer for directions).

We do have a few needs to make this come together, so if you have any of the following items that could be donated or borrowed please let us know as soon as possible.
  • White Christmas Lights(and lots of them) - rope lighting, icicle lights and standard lights
  • Battery operated light strands (for those walking to wear)
  • Large Nativity Scene Backdrop (Stable and Manger)
  • Large Lit star (3-4 ft)
  • Artificial Trees (non Christmas trees) to be used with nativity scene
  • Small candy canes (to be attached to New Life postcards and passed out during the parade)
  • Parade Walkers

Have you selected an ornament from the Christmas Tree in the church lobby yet? The ornaments list items needed by the Pregnancy Assistance Center, a ministry whose primary purpose is to save the lives of unborn babies while also assisting the families with many other needs. If you would like to help, please choose an ornament and return the gift and ornament by December 14. Thanks for being a blessing to others!

Please support the NLC Food Drive, starting this Sunday!

The Missions Team chose Loving Hearts Outreach because of its ability to reach people not just from Washington, but from the surrounding community as well.
